J.B. Hogan

J. B. Hogan writes fiction and poetry and local history articles. He plays upright bass in a family acoustic band.

His story "Ozark Beats" read for the NPR program Tales from the South can be heard on KUAR, Little Rock, Arkansas. The reading is also streamed on the internet and is also available on World Radio stations. The video of the reading can be seen on You Tube and Facebook.

His story "Train Boarding" was selected as one of "The Best of the Cynic Online Magazine 2010 (www.cynicmag.com). His poem "The Classic Age" won Second Place in The Medulla Review Oblongata Contest #3, August 2010.

His flash fiction piece "Kerosene Heat" was nominated for a 2010 Pushcart Prize. His flash fiction piece "Janey" won First Place in The Medulla Review Oblongata Contest #4, September 2010. His dystopian novel New Columbia was a "Best of Long Fiction 2009" selection by Aphelion. His poem "Gray Man" was selected as one of "The Best Pieces of 2009" by Cynic Online Magazine.

His story "Waiting for Jesus," published in the Dead Mule, was selected as one of the storySouth Million Writers Award Notable Stories of 2009. His 2008 prize-winning fiction e-book Near Love Stories is online at Cervena Barva Press. He has three stories in Flash of Aphelion, a print on demand anthology, May 2010.

He has also published 145 stories and poems in such journals as: Istanbul Literary Review, Every Day Poets, Ranfurly Review, Smokebox, Bewildering Stories, and Avatar Review.
