Jim Fischer

When Jim was just shy of ten years old he saw his first cowboys, Indians and rodeo and decided when he grew up he wanted to be a cowboy. Fate has been kind enough to allow him to do so, off and on throughout his life. In between trips to the west he has worked on the Great Lakes, design and built C.A.T. Scanners, and is a self-taught leather worker, building custom saddles. Working on ranches in Montana and at Custer State Park on the annual buffalo roundups has given him firsthand experience as a cowboy and knowledge of working cowboy saddles and equipment. Jim is a member of the Western Writers of America and co-author of the book Custer's Horses, Wolfe Publishing, 2001 Prescott, Az. Jim has articles in Buckskin Report, Cowboy Magazine, and a story Snow Angels is in the collection Tales From Cowboy Country, Range Writer, Inc., 2005, La Veta, Colorado. Retired, he is writing about his experiences in the West, the people he's met, and the stories they've told him. Jim and his wife Candy live in Vermilion, Ohio, on the south shore of Lake Erie.
